Globe Environments is pleased to advise that Cliffs Asia Pacific Iron Ore Pty Ltd has now been granted the required environmental and mining approvals from the Environmental Protection Authority and the Department of Mines and Petroleum to enable development of its Windarling Range W10 Deposit.
The Windarling Range W10 Deposit is located at the Windarling Range, approximately 130km north of Southern Cross in the Shire of Yilgarn. The W10 Deposit is expected to yield an estimated 2.2 million tonnes of iron ore having a gross economic value of approximately A$120million.
Development of the W10 Deposit has been scheduled to commence from Q1 2017 and will have an expected mining-life of approximately 2 years, to 2019. The W10 Deposit will form an important extension to Cliffs’ Windarling Range mine operations, which currently include the development of the W1, W2, W3, W4 and W7 Deposits.
Globe Environments has worked with Cliffs on the W10 Deposit since 2010, commencing with the coordination of environmental surveys for flora and vegetation, vertebrate fauna, invertebrate fauna, subterranean fauna, groundwater, and soil and waste rock characterization.
Following, Globe Environments has prepared the various environmental approvals documents necessary under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (WA), Mining Act 1978 (WA), and the Rights in Water and Irrigation Act 1914 (WA), including consultation with various Government agencies (Environmental Protection Authority, Department of Mines and Petroleum, Department of Parks and Wildlife, Department of Water).
Globe Environments congratulates Cliffs on achieving this milestone, and we look forward to seeing development of this important regional project.
