The upgrade for the South Coast Highway ‘Kojaneerup Project’ in the Great Southern Region has this month received approval from the State Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER).
The Project involves the reconstruction of the 20km Kojaneerup section of the South Coast Highway (approx. 40km north-east of Albany) which is bordered either side by the Hassel National Park. The Project will require the clearing of up to 31ha of native vegetation, including areas of Kwongkan Shrublands TEC, a suite of ‘priority’ flora taxa as well as foraging habitat for ‘threatened’ Black Cockatoo taxa.
On behalf of Main Roads, Globe Environments prepared the environmental assessment for the Project to support the Clearing Permit application to DWER. A copy of the environmental assessment can be viewed here.
Globe Environments was also responsible for project management of the supporting biological consultants, and consultation with key community and Government stakeholders.
